My Cauliflower in the Ground

I took this photo of my cauliflower in the ground but some cruel person suggested that everybody would think it was a close up of one of my famous "5 to the hand" miniature cauliflowers.

Cauliflower and Me

This is to prove it's not really an inch across, me and my cauliflower!

The variety is Aalsmeer

Chilli Peppers in Greenhouse

It's amazing really, chilli peppers happily ripening away in the small greenhouse like it's mid-October, not the middle of November.

The silly thing is that we have more chilli peppers than we know what to do with but I haven't the heart to dump them.

Leeks Looking Well on Plot 29

The leeks are doing quite well on plot 29, despite my getting them planted late. We've been pulling a few and they taste as good as they look.

Rebuilding the Compost Heaps on Plot 5

I've emptied the bins (nearly) and you can see how the centre pallet has rotted away. The sides and back aren't too bad so the 'new' wood, that's actually the roof off my old shed, will be fixed to them.

This should make the job a lot easier although replacing the centre part will be a little tricky as it is being made up from an old scrap shed door, from my neighbour.

Ruts in the Allotment Road

Since I moved my compost pile, opening the road back up to traffic the drive-thru growers have been saved the long walk from the car park and can lean out of the windows with long handled hoes to tend their plots.

The fact that each time they do so they make the path worse just seems to slip past them. Those of us who occasionally like to drive with a load to the plot but don't have 4x4s don't count, of course.

Road Nearly Impassable

Following a visit from the electricity people, the path is effectively impassable if you're not wearing wellington boots.

The full story is in my diary - Compost Bins & Electric Farce

Pond Under the Pylon

The visits from the elctricity people were to create this pond under the pylon. You have to wonder about construction teams that seem surprised when they dig a hole in heavy clay it fills up with water.

Never mind, just keep singing "There I was, digging this hole, Hole in the ground, so big and sort of round it was"

Rainbow over the Allotment

I wish the camera could have captured this just as I saw it. Absolutely beautiful perfect semi-circle right over the site.
