Globe Artichokes put to bed With globe artichokes you remove the foliage at the beginning of winter and cover them with some insulation to keep the frost away. Of course I'm late, we've had a few hard frosts but better late than ever so here are my globe artichokes under their winter blanket of leaves.	06/12/2008

Frozen Pond Andy's put a pond onto his plot to attract wildlife this autumn. It's not established yet, by the way. Winter has arrived though, it's got a thick layer of ice on the surface, despite it being a sunny afternoon.	06/12/2008
View up Plot 5 Now this should be all dug over and nothing to do until spring. Some hope! You can see the mustard green manure hasn't got too far, but despite some hard frosts and cold days it's not died off. At least a green manure keeps the weeds down until I get around to the digging over in November (yes, it's December!)	06/12/2008
How not to grow Brussels Sprouts Now this is quite sad, they made a reasonable start but didn't get any nitrogen, nor weeding and worst of all no netting to keep the pigeons off. They're not mine, by the way. Anyone for teeny tiny baby sprouts?	06/12/2008
