The home greenhouse

This is the greenhouse on the back of my office. You can see the staging on the left and the potting bench on the right.

In the middle there's my paraffin heater, which keeps the cold out. Hanging from the back wall are the last of the red baron onions and the garlic.

Under the staging you can see Val's fuscias which I kindly allow to overwinter in my greenhouse!

Onion Seedlings in the home Greenhouse

The onions in the green module trays are Red Baron just after moving on from the seed tray.

On the far right in the black module trays are the show onions given to me by John Carver who is chair of our local branch of the NVS.

Faded out by the flash in the foreground is the maximum minimum thermometer.

The Scarecrow

This is on a neighbouring plot - I thought it was wonderful, his head is a plant pot but I'm not sure what's growing in it.

Behind you can see their summerhouse complete with decking, balustrades and attached conservatory. Brilliant!

The Coldframe

As space gets tight undercover at home, things expand to the plot. This twinwall polycarbonate and cedar coldframe was purchased off ebay. You can buy them in the shops for around ?50.00 but I think I'd be wild if I'd paid that much for it.

Despite being treated with Cuprinol the wood has warped so that the polycarbonate has sprung. Still, it's providing shelter for the garlic in pots and hopefully getting them ahead of the curve.
