Wind Damage to Greenhouse

We've had some rather strong winds recently and I've been really lucky in that damage has been minimal.

The panes had slipped at the back of the large greenhouse so I had to take all the glass out of the column and re-fit it. If you let the wind get into a gap it can rip the whole house apart. It just depends on the direction and strength. Always fix a broken or slipped pane as soon as you can and never leave the door open in windy weather.

Yet More Wood Chippings

Wood chippings are so useful for making paths on the plot, I don't know how we'd get by without them. Trouble is that they are a bit feast or famine. I don't think I got any last year onto the paths on plot 5 and they'd quite rotted away before they started coming this year.

I'm fine, having re-covered my paths but there's quite a few other plot holders happy to see them.

This is Therese off plot one getting stuck in.

Rhubarb Showing

Jim, a fellow plot holder, split his rhubarb last year and gave me some crowns which I left to get frosted before planting out.

They're starting to come up now. I've got 4 crowns and next year I'll be forcing one for an early crop of extra sweet.

Leeks Still Standing on Plot 29

Looking up from the greenhouse on Plot 29, you can see I've still got a fair number of leeks standing. They'll be coming out soon to be converted into Leek & Potato Soup.

The blue tray, by the way, is blowing around the site. I'm not sure who it belongs to and don't want to claim it in case someone is looking for it.

The wood chipping covered paths look good, wish I could say the same about the beds!
