Tent Cloche in a Box

My bargain buy (?20.00 from Bridgemere) tent cloche in the box. A Chinese puzzle with 'helpful' instructions.

Tent Cloche Built and Filled with Plants

It only took half an hour to build up, very simple really.

I'm very pleased with it - the heavy duty reinforced plastic side panels unzip and roll up to be held by Velcro tabs but there is a sort of flyscreen under, keeping out pests but allowing good ventilation. There are also small screened vents  at the ends, further improving ventilation.

Greenhouse Construction 2

Having made a good start and discovered a piece was missing, it all fell down.

I have made a replacement, which I hope will do the job so need to make another start.  Anyway, Jim - you said I wasn't being honest with the photo of it halfway up, so here you go!

Comfrey Patch

Nearly as high as I am, me and the comfrey patch.

Thanks to Steve from plot 2 for taking the photo,

Poorly Onions

Some of the onions on the patch at the top of plot 5 have come down with some illness. I'm not sure what it is but at least I've plenty of spares.

Could be downey mildew, its certainly been wet enough but if it's shanking, I've got a real problem.

Cauliflower Crop

From 5 plants of caulflower Mayflower, I have succeeded in getting this marvellous crop.

Yes, nearly a portion! Well, sometimes things go wrong and I think they went wrong in this case.

Rotovator Bargain

I think the French sell more rotovators than we do in England and they certainly have some good prices.

This is Val (my wife) with a 5.5 horsepower, geared rotovator for 469 Euros (?320)

Glastonbury Festival at Wistaston

We jokingly call this plot Glastonbury because of the tent cloches but Pete, the owner, has created a wonderful bed around a sunken half-barrel pond. The chap has real skills in garden design.

First Early Potatoes

The first potatoes of the season. Not a huge amount from two plants but it's only been 10 weeks since planting and they'll be really up to speed in another two weeks.

There's a good two meals worth here and they taste sublime. From ground to my tum in less than three hours!

Onions on the drying rack

They may be small, but they are my Japanese onions and we have run out of last year's stock.

The onions at the top of plot 5 haven't done well but the other patch in the centre of the plot are looking OK.

The raised wire netting rack enables them to dry out for storage although Japanese onins do not tend to store well at the best of times,
