Tomatoes in the Greenhouse

The tomatoes in the large greenhouse are doing well although a bit of sunshine would help no end by ripening them off.

The only ones we've had so far are the Sungold, which are amazingly sweet as well as prolific with a long season. The sweetness is a problem though, they're too sweet for a lot of things.

Seedling Lettuce and Cucumber

In the small greenhouse I've got a cucumber in a large pot and I'm starting off some lettuce in modules.

The cucumbers are supposed to be small, btw. Incredibly tasty though. You can see the seedlings I pulled when thinning the modules have decided to take root in the gravel. Goes to show this growing lark nedd not be that difficult. Pull the seedlings up and throw them away.

Cucumber Takes Over the Greenhouse!

I planted a Burpless Tasty Green in the border of the small greenhouse and it's gone mad. I don't know about taking over the greenhouse so much. This plant is bent on world domination.

Believe it or not, I've kept cutting back the foliage. Had three nice fruits from it so far and there's loads more forming. If you'd like to buy a few tonnes of cucumbers, please contact me.

Val Sorting Potatoes to Store

We're back to that time of year where the potato crop comes in and needs drying out and sorting prior to storing in Hessian sacks.

Val's got them spread out on an old shower curtain in the back garden

Forum Meet Up

A group of us got together in Roughlee to have lunch from the allotment forums.

It's amazing but true, there are real people on the other end of the computer

Rouglee Pigs

Being a true British summer, later the skies opened and the rain poured down

We'd moved on from the pub to Roughlee (the forum member) house to see his pigs. They didn't seem too bothered by the rain but Roughlee ended up on his back in the paddock. Sadly I didn't get a shot of that but I think you can see on his face he wasn't totally happy.
