Rhubarb Plants
Fruit Trees, Nut Trees and Fruit BushesIf you are going to plant a tree or bush, then it is going to be there for some years. So it's well worth spending some time looking at the different varieties and going for something that will be productive and providing you with a good crop in years to come. Time spent to prepare the ground properly will repay you many times over. Rhubarb Tasters Collection OfferThree delicious varieties Rhubarb, Rhubarb, Rhubarb! Right now Rhubarb is incredibly popular in British homes and kitchens. Top chefs including Anthony Worrall Thompson, Phil Vickery & Nigella Lawson are all keen on Rhubarb because it is low in carbohydrates, high in vitamins and is therefore a nutritious slimming food. Rhubarb is extremely versatile - you can use it to make puddings, jams and even use it as a vegetable. But it is still difficult to find in a lot of shops. Rhubarb is incredibly easy to grow. You basically plant it and it comes up year after year with very little attention. You can even put it into a perennial border to provide foliage. The Rhubarb Tasters Collection - At Suttons we have put together a special Rhubarb Tasters collection with our three most popular varieties: Timperley (Early) (picture 1) - Capable of production from Frebruary right through to October. Delicious, tart flavour; Suttons Seedless (picture 2) - A good later variety, known for good yield and flavour; Victoria (picture 3) - A good all round variety, freezes very well so you can have Rhubarb all year round. Price: £9.95 More Information from Suttons Seeds Rhubarb Timperley EarlyThe earliest rhubarb! The earliest variety available. Capable of outdoor production from February (when it's very expensive to buy in the supermarket) right through to October. Bred in Yorkshire, it produces a heavy crop (up to 6 lb per plant), with very few thin or waste sticks. Ideal for forcing and for outdoor production it is without doubt the best choice for exhibition, and attractive enough to grow as ground cover in the flower garden!
